Spring 2009

These spring ads for South Coast Plaza, a very upscale shopping center in southern California, were shot in early January at Smashbox studio in LA.  The ad agency, Brogan Tennyson Group, did an amazing job on the concept and execution, and the photos that Joshua Jordan shot are stunning.  The ever charming model, Anne V (Women Management), left everyone on the set enchanted.

Fall/Winter 2009 in NY

Another fashion week comes and goes, and it was as exciting as ever.

We were so proud to once again work with some of our favorite designers from season’s past such as Tracy Reese,Betsey Johnson, and Christian Siriano. All of these amazing designers put on beautiful collections for the upcoming Fall/Winter season.

Tracy Reese showed her collection in Bryant Park, as she normally does, and we used a line up of 17 gorgeous models. We were especially happy to feature such a diverse range of ethnicities in this show, as it is always important to Tracy to be inclusive to women from all walks of life.

Betsey Johnson did something a little different this season. Rather then a runway show in Bryant Park, she opted for a 2 hour presentation in her showroom. Betsey magically transformed the space, as only Betsey Johnson can do, into “Betsey Crooker’s Diner” for the day. Twenty cool and unique models were strategically placed through out the “Diner” vamping it up in Betsey’s latest creations. Of course the atmosphere was much more fun and party, then presentation!

Christian Siriano showed his second collection as an independent designer since winning top honors on “Project Runway”. This time, he moved into the tents in Bryant Park and had a completely packed house (complete with celebrities front row). He has an incredible buzz for such a young designer. We went with 22 models to show the 27 stunning looks.

Our final project for this season was to once again work with the team at LDJ Productions, IMG Productions, and American Express on the AMEX sponsored show in Bryant Park. This season’s featured designer was Diane Von Furstenberg, who showed her collection from Spring/Summer 2009. This show is set up as a “Show/Buy”, meaning that the audience can actually go and immediately purchase the items they see on the runway, as they’ve already been put into production.

I want to give a special acknowledgement of thanks to LDJ Productions who I’ve been working with on many projects for quite some time. I once again had the pleasure of working with LDJ again this season. As always, their work is flawless and they are professionals from start to finish. Thanks for making it all fun!

Out With 2008, In With 2009

With lots of ends to tie up and in 2008 and projects to begin for 2009, Colby Hewitt Casting has been very busy.

We ended 2008 casting fashion shows for Teen Vogue where we booked 21 up and coming fresh faced models. Van Cleef & Arpels held a beautiful event and show to feature their exquisite jewelry at The Plaza in NY, where we booked 8 models to model the jewels. We also looked west to book 6 models for a Logic’s show in Anaheim California. Worth by Design recently shot their DVD for Spring 2009 at a studio in NYC using 9 models we casted.

This month we began preparations and held multiple castings for projects all scheduled for early 2009. January and February are shaping up to be busy for us. Other new projects include a trip to Los Angeles for another Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry show. We also have a big Matrix event occurring simultaneously in Houston. In the works is another DVD shoot in NYC for the ever busy Worth by Design. Also shooting early in January will be the advertising for South Coast Plaza, photographed by Josh Jordan. Following that, South Coast Plaza will shoot book 1 of the 2009 catalogs in Palm Springs over the course of a week using 6 women and 2 male models, with the photographer, Patrick Shaw.
